Pulpectomy & Pulpotomy

Pulpectomy and pulpotomy are both dental procedures used to treat issues related to the pulp of a tooth, which is the innermost part containing nerves and blood vessels. However, Pulpectomy & Pulpotomy are used in different situations and involve different levels of pulp removal. A pulpectomy is a procedure where the entire pulp tissue inside the tooth is removed. It is typically performed when the pulp is irreversibly damaged or infected due to advanced decay, trauma, or other factors. Pulpectomy is commonly associated with treating infected or abscessed teeth, especially in cases of severe pain or swelling. A pulpotomy is a partial removal of the pulp tissue, typically performed on primary (baby) teeth or permanent teeth with immature roots. It is done when the pulp is infected or inflamed but the infection or inflammation has not yet spread to the tooth's roots.
